What should I consider before upgrading a machine?

When a washer or dryer nears the end of it's life there are three good reasons to purchase a new machine.

1) The obvious... rather than increasing repair costs, you benefit from a manufacturers warranty (in our case... the best in the industry).

2) Efficiency.  As machines age, they can become less efficient.  Newer machines are also smarter - often with greater control so you can optimise cost for your needs.

3) Size.  Don't under-estimate the benefit of going up a step in capacity.

Why upgrade to a larger capacity washer or dryer?

There are plenty of advantages in upgrading, especially to a larger capacity washer or dryer. Newer machines incorporate our latest and greatest innovations, meaning they are more efficient and durable than previous generations of machines. A larger machine could also be considerably more efficient than it's smaller counterpart. Larger capacities mean a higher throughput and lower utility cost per kilo. Larger machines also have a lower upfront cost per kilo.

What should I consider when upgrading?

When upgrading your machines, you need to consider several practical factors.  The smartest and easiest way to solve these is to talk to Australia's oldest commercial laundry suppliers... Speed Queen.  We've done this thousands of times so can walk you through the process.  But if you wan't to manage yourself, no problem - here is what you should consider.

Firstly, installation. Will your new machine fit through your doors? Will you need a forklift to move it? What sort of mount does the new machine need? These are questions that need to be answered before the machine arrives unless you want a very stressful installation period.

Secondly, will your current system allow the machine to run effectively? A larger machine may require more water, power, or require larger exhaust ducting. You can easily compare your existing and new machine's technical specifications (which can be found at the bottom of each product page). You should also consider if you have enough physical space to operate the machine. The physical design of your laundry space is important, after all its a bit difficult to do laundry if you can't open the door!
