More detergent = cleaner laundry

On the  surface, this myth makes sense. More sugar in food means a sweeter taste, or more coffee results in a stronger blend, but this does not apply to laundry. Using too much detergent can lead to overflowing suds that deposit dirt and grime all over the machine. This can lead to laundry not being cleaned properly or causing damage to the machine as dirt enters the mechanisms or seals.  On top of this, excess suds cant be pumped out of a washing machine so they create drag on the spinning bowl which prevents the machine achieving full speed.  This leaves excess moisture and suds in your laundry.  YUCK.

Hairspray removes ink stains

When hairspray was first introduced in the 1950s' it contained a significant amount of alcohol. Ink stains can be removed via alcohol, so hairspray was an effective solution back then. Hairspray these days is aerosol-based using propellant and very little alcohol, so spraying it all over your ink stains is likely to just create an even bigger mess

Washing machines can't handle delicate items

The idea that washing machines are unable to wash products labelled as 'handwash only' is a relic from a time when washers only had one cycle option. Nowadays, machines are capable of advanced and programmable cycles which can adjust temperature, speed and the duration of the wash. For more information, check out the quantum difference.

There is no difference between domestic and commercial machines

Commercial machines have several key benefits over domestic machines which give them an edge in most business applications. Firstly, commercial machines are considerably more durable. They use high-quality parts which are built to handle extensive use and large loads. Secondly, commercial machines offer another level of customisation and programmability over domestic machines giving you control over every aspect of your laundry process.

Commercial laundry is expensive

While commercial laundry might have a higher up-front cost, they are considerably cheaper in the long run to domestic machines. This is because you won't be replacing them for many years, and will get better efficiency, which enables you to reduce your costs in the long term. The reduced repair / replacement and utility bills will save you money several times over.
