Covid-19 is continuing to have an impact globally, with more and more infectious variants being discovered, it's more important than ever to maintain proper hygiene procedures. Here at Speed Queen we've been prioritised identifying new ways we can improve our user's hygiene through laundry.

A safer way to do laundry

We recently launched a new page all about Hygiene. We're committed to keeping our users as safe as possible. Here are four measures that Speed Queen offers to help you achieve your desired level of cleanliness:

Barrier control

Barrier washers are a new product that allows you to completely control the risks of infection and cross-contamination within your laundry. This is accomplished via two doors on either side, creating a 'clean' and a 'dirty' room, so the freshly washed laundry never comes into contact with the dirty!

Thermal sterilisation

Speed Queen machines quality build and customisable programming mean that it's easy to achieve the Australian Standards definition of thermal sterilisation; washing for 3 minutes or more at 71 Celsius, or 10 minutes or more at 65 Celsius.

Chemical control:

If the heat is a concern, customisable settings allow you to manage the time and quantities that chemicals are added in. This gives you total control over your wash cycle, and level of cleanliness

Pre-Sanitise cycles:

This feature for laundromats is an optional short, hot clean that sterilises the machine after the last user has removed their washing. This gives customers total peace of mind that there is a lower chance for cross-contamination and also gets rid of any grime or muck left from the last user.

A few reminders.

Remember to clean whatever touched the dirty laundry. It may seem like common sense, but it's worth repeating. As per the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Wear disposable gloves when handling dirty laundry from an ill person and then discard after each use. If using reusable gloves, those gloves should be dedicated for cleaning and disinfection of surfaces for COVID-19 and should not be used for other household purposes. Clean hands immediately after gloves are removed.

If no gloves are used when handling dirty laundry, be sure to wash hands afterwards.

Our machines are designed to be the most durable and effective on the market, so don't fret about running them on high heat, they can take whatever you throw in them. Each component is built to last, meaning the odds of a Speed Queen washer breaking under the stress of everyday use is astronomically lower than other brands.
