A big day is coming up on the 15th of April.
International laundry day!
Thanks to innovations in laundry cleaning technology, cleaning linen and garments is no longer the painful and time-consuming slog that it once was. Tools like modern machine washers (especially commercial machines) clean and dry linens in under an hour.
Unfortunately, this has turned laundry into 'just another job' rather than an opportunity for bonding and community time that it used to be (although Laundromats can provide a bit of that). Thankfully, International Laundry Day is here to remind everyone that we shouldn't take for granted being clean, smelling nice and looking our best!
So what do you do to celebrate International Laundry Day?
#1 Thank people in the laundry sector
Take a moment to simply say "thanks" to people you know who do the hard yards of laundry. Even though it isn't as grueling as it was a hundred years ago, for many it's a thankless task. So with a smile and a "happy laundry day", you can let someone know that you notice.
#2 Teach laundry!
If there was ever a day to educate people on how to properly use a washing machine or dryer, it would be International Laundry Day! Teach your family, customers, clients or colleagues how to handle different colours, or how to effectively clean delicate items or maybe even how to use the more advanced controls on your equipment.
#3 Review your cleaning process!
Take a long look at the detergents, cleaners and machines you are using. Do they still fit your needs? Are there any better products that could help? You can also consider getting some routine maintenance and checkups performed on your machines, to ensure another year of smooth running.
